Reiki (pronounced Ray Key) is a Japanese word meaning Universal Life Energy, the energy that is all around us. It is derived from rei meaning “transcendental spirit” or “universal” and ki meaning “vital life force energy.

Many cultures dating back in time have had the knowledge that an unseen energy flows through all living things and is directly connected with this unlimited energy, which is all around us, creating the space for healing of body, mind and spirit.

Reiki is a non-invasive, gentle healing art. It is based on the principle that there is an energy system that runs through the physical body. When this system is blocked or imbalanced, the bodies energy system is no longer in harmony and therefore dis-ease occurs. Symptoms may show up physically, emotionally or spiritually.

Through Reiki the energy system of a body is balanced. The body, mind and spirit can then heal. Optimal health and vitality is achieved according to the Highest and Best for each individual.

A treatment consists

The fully clothed client lies comfortably on the treatment table. Relaxing music and special color therapy lighting create a relaxed, private, safe environment in which healing can occur. The practitioner prepares the client for the treatment through dialogue, mediation or breath work. An intention or goal is set for the session. The practitioner taps into the infinite Universal Source of energy and the Reiki begins. The “Highest and Best” is invited in and manifested in each session. The practitioner uses a formal set of hand positions, lightly touching the client. The treatment can also be performed without the touch if the client so chooses. A treatment is usually about one hour in duration. The practitioner completed the treatment by inviting the client to take three deeps – grounding and bringing the client back to present time and place.
